Emanuel S. Franklin is husband, godfather, father-in-law, great uncle, and great, great uncle. We call him Dad, Daddy, Manuel, Uncle Manuel, Papa and Grandpa. Emanuel entered into this world on October 22, 1922 in Teague, Texas and was the third pride and joy of Willie G. and W.E. Franklin. In the early 1923, the family moved to Oklahoma City, where Emanuel attend elementary school. During the early years of Emanuel’s childhood he liked attention and if he didn’t get the attention he would “whine” to his mother say someone was picking on him. This was due to his younger brother coming on the scene 10 months after him and taking away moms attention. In the late 1930’s his family moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma and he attended Faver High School. During lunch at school he would go over to the Teen Center to dance and listen to music.
