against the odd's
It was a sunny morning, and I was excited as it was my first real day of my holiday as I arrived at the resort late the night before. I walked out of my cabin all rugged up. I closed my door and heard it click. I stopped and marveled at the key card entrance which had long replaced the key. I thought to myself how amazing technology had come along. I walked down the pathway until I saw a big sign. It read “Mt. R.J’S skiing course. I looked ahead and there were a group of people standing around a person. He looked like the instructor. I went up and he looked at my suspiciously, he glanced at a picture on his clip board. Then he smiled and said “you must be Joseph”. I replied “that’s me”. “Great, if you could just follow me over here” he said. He started to walk towards a big shed. As I entered I was surrounded by different types of skies and snow board’s, there were all different sizes and colors. “Are we skiing today?” he asked enthusiastically. “Yeah sure why not” I replied. “Great” he said. He then said “have you skied before?” I replied “I have skied a few times before, and but I know the basics. He then said “excellent, then we can go straight up to the mountain, after we get our gear”. We started to walk up to the counter in the middle of the shed, and then he suddenly stopped. He turned around and said “I’m sorry I haven’t introduced myself yet, I’m James, James Andrews”. I replied, as I shook his hand “Hey James”. We then got geared up, my equipment was purple, and his was blue. That was about as much as I knew about the equipment. He then told me about the things to look for in hire snow gear. He told me to watch out for crack’s, and split’s etc. After that we headed up to the cherry lift. We entered the lift, and the doors closed. The cable started to move, and it seemed to choke as it started, yet it smoothed out and we were on our way. I asked James how many times he has skied, he told me he had skied many times, and then went on to tell me the mountain we were going to he knew very well, as he had competed in many event’s on it. The lift stopped, and the doors opened, we were at the top of the mountain. He ran me over some of the things to watch out for, like groups of trees, rocks, and other objects. Then we were ready. I looked at the edge it was very high, I started to feel the pressure, then he said “go on”, and gave me a little nudge. Well I was on my way, and he was following me behind laughing. It was the best feeling in the world, the speed, the feeling of the wind in you face, the occasional trick, it was pure fun.
