The beaten up old Chevy sputtered violently as we rolled leisurely out of our driveway. With my mom in the passenger seat and my dad behind the wheel, the front of the car was up with excitement for our trip to Colorado Springs to visit Uncle Norbert. My brother Michael was quietly asleep next to me, and as for my sister, Kasi, and youngest brother Matthew; they played calmly in the backseat. I should have been more excited, since none of us had ever seen snow before, but I sat passive behind my mother, still delirious of the situation and dreading the long exhausting trip that I was to endure. My lack of enthusiasm was due to my late bedtime the night before. I guess I was lucky to be a passenger in the car, and not the driver, as so I could "snooze" as my dad urged himself to go onwards. We had already been on the road for three hours now, and still not a peep out of anyone, except my youngest siblings who were lively playing together with their toys in the backseat, the same as they were when we were leaving. My dad refused to stop for Hebert 2 food until noon. It was 11:30, yet thirty minutes seemed like an awful long time and my stomach had been craving something, anything, for at least an hour.
