KICKING THE HABIT OF SMOKING CIGARETTES Although smoking cigarettes has been apart of my life for more than 5 years now, I have decided that I will quit once and for all. I have “quit” (and I use the term loosely) for a year before, but this is the time in my life that I will definitely not allow myself to fall back into this hazardous habit ever again. I have chosen this particular topic because it affects my health and my everyday life in many negative ways and there are no real positive outcomes from smoking. ... Smoking cigarettes does not only put me in a lot of risks, but those around me are also affected. I hope to gain the will power, mind-control, power, and courage to quit this craving I have had for such an inanimate object, such as cigarettes. Amazingly, there are so many useful websites, articles, books, and videos on the physiological, mental, and emotional factors to what cigarettes may cause because it affects aspects such as personal health, health of others, quality of life, personal hygiene, domestic aspects, social, and general aspects to life. ... I beg to differ and believe that if I quit smoking cigarettes, I wouldn’t have to bother with worrying so much about these things and that is why I have conducted my primary focus while researching on a brief perspective on why or how people begin to smoke and possible ways to go about quitting smoking cigarettes. I have found in my research that a lot of people start to smoke during their teen years, imitating parents, others who smoke, or by trying to become more like advertisement models who make smoking look “cook,” “fun,” or even “sexy” (which is exactly what ads try to represent and grab their targeted audience with). But just about half of these people who experiment with cigarettes continue the habit into adulthood. ... There is a big payoff in smoking cigarettes right -or people wouldn’t do it.
