Second Hand smoke is a silent killer. A smoker inhales cigarette smoke through a filter
while the people around him or her breathe in the unfiltered smoke that permeates the air
around the smoker. The smoke that is breathed in by the people around the smoker is
more hazardous to their health than the smoke being drawn in by the smoker. ...
Smoking in public buildings should be banned across the country. A building is an
enclosed space where the toxic chemicals found in the smoke of a cigarette can
accumulate to dangerous levels. A public building is for the public. The public deserves
to breathe freely without fear of health risks. If smoking in public buildings is allowed to
continue then there is a health risk to the public that the owners of the buildings should be
held accountable for by the public that they are not protecting.
Second hand smoke kills thirty-five thousand to sixty-two thousand people a
year.
