In an April 1999 article from the Men's Health magazine entitled "How to Make a Recoverable Memory", Mile corcoran presents a situation where one of his three children did something destructive and he couldn't find out who was responsible. He told the children that there wouldn't be punishment if the responsible child spoke up. Upset by not finding out who was responsible, Corcoran decided to show his children that truth is important and grounded them all for thirty minutes until they decided to tell the truth. Time passed but nobody confessed. The writer felt obliged to follow through with the consequences of spanking to keep his authoritative postion. They would be slightly spanked with a belt on their butts. He started with the youngest, the eight-year-old girl, almost a young woman. The write hesitated which gave the girl time to look straight into his eyes and complain that she didn't do it.
