Along with triumphs such as being the first to put a man on the moon NASA has also
experienced downfalls such as, the one most recent the Columbia space shuttle tragedy. Since its
inception in 1958, NASA has accomplished many great scientific and technological feats in air
and space. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public
interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general. ... While the tremendous technical and scientific accomplishments of NASA
demonstrate vividly that humans can achieve previously inconceivable feats, we also are
humbled by the realization that Earth is just a tiny "blue marble" in the cosmos. ... ,” With this simple preamble, Congress and the president of the united states
created the national aeronautics and space administration (NASA). For over forty years, NASA
has been experimenting with the ideas of space exploration and preforming experiments to make
our world a little easier. Although we have not found a cure for the worlds illnesses we are
definitely closer than we were in October 1,1958 when NASA was formed. NASA was formed

NASA managed to launch its first space station, Skylab, where astronauts could work and live in
space for several months.
After the Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz Test Projects of the early and mid-1970s, NASA’s human
space flight efforts again resumed in 1981, with the Space Shuttle program that continues today
to help build the International Space Station. NASA’s next breakthrough came on April 12,
