Sexual discrimination has always angered me. When one is judged solely based on their sex, it is cause for concern. Whenever I turn on my TV, open a magazine, or drive down a highway, I see women depicted as unintelligent, big-breasted bimbos. All of these unrealistic images of females create sexist ideas within the minds of our youth as well as our old, and the repercussions of sexual discrimination are great. In a study done by MIT in 2000, researchers documented a pattern of gender discrimination in hiring, promotion, awards, committee responsibility, the allocation of laboratory space and research money. It was also found that, despite increasing numbers of women scientists, there had been no change in faculty ratios for ten to twenty years.
