Effective Classroom Management Christine Dillon Sections 1-5 1/ST2 List three important beliefs you hold about behavior and learning. What do you believe is your role in behavior management? The first belief I have about behavior and learning is that they are directly related, one cannot take place without the other. Secondly, I believe that if I do a good job managing the instruction and learning part, I will have to spend much less time managing my students. Last, I believe that all children, when actively engaged, are capable of learning and managing their own behavior. I believe one of my most important responsibilities, as a classroom teacher, is to get my students to learn to manage their own behavior. Since I teach first grade, many of my students come to school unsure of what is acceptable behavior. It is my job to teach, demonstrate and model appropriate behavior so that my students will grow to understand what is expected of them. At all times, my management system encourages self-monitoring. I have a visual cue in my classroom, but my entire management system is based on each child taking responsibility for his/her own actions. 1/AA1 Based on your analysis, what made the instruction motivating and engaging?
