Purpose The purpose of this lab is to verify Graham’s law, through measurements of the distances traveled during a period of time by two different gasses. Procedure § First, get a completely dry 50-cm length glass tube. § Then, place one Q-tip in each end, and mark the glass at the end of each tip. § Next, remove the Q-tips, and mark one of them for identification purposes. On the unmarked Q-tip, add 5 drops of HCl, and on the marked Q-tip, 5 drops of NH3-H2O. BE CAREFUL. § As soon after as possible, insert the ends of the Q-tips simultaneously into opposite ends of the tube.
