The early bird catches the worm The expression lingered frequently in the deepest corners of my subconscious. For a chicle, “the early bird catches the worm,” certainly has an extraordinary usefulness and genuine thematic features as well. I never paid much attention to those who advised me of such, however, until those classic words were proven to me through personal examples. Friends and family would tell me that I need to stop being lazy. In fact, my Mother called one of my teachers and had asked that I be moved to the front of the classroom. Now that my head was going to be used for target practice for spit wads and other flying objects, I decided I wasn’t going back to that class again.
