Respect is a word that I think is often misunderstood. Many people think of respect as fear; others find respect to be a form of submission to another person. But I don’t believe respect to be any of these things. I believe respect to be an understanding and acknowledging the rights and abilities of someone else.
People constantly claim that they respect anyone or anything that they like, but I think that respect should be shown to people and things whether you like them or not. Respect should be the willingness to show consideration or appreciation to anyone and anything, not what you are doing. What I mean is, the act of respect isn’t in the actions of what you do, but in the thoughts that made you do it.
