The point of the Nun’s Priest’s Tale is to demonstrate the viability of dreams and their prediction of the future. Although many individuals deny the notion that dreams may be indicative of future events, factual, and even biblical evidence supports these outrageous claims. The author of the Nun’s Priest’s Tale clearly has strong opinions about these phenomenal occurrences. The author does not merely present evidence for the feasibility of dreams foretelling the future, but instead more dramatically creates a narrative that convinces the reader more effectively. One “beastly” character is convinced that his dream is an omen of the future and becomes very alarmed, but is convinced by his wife that the dream is nothing more than an upset stomach. The writer uses some modern mentalities to persuade the alarmed character that there is nothing to worry about.
