Abstract
Every manager must use the four functions of management - planning, organizing, leading, and controlling - whether they know they are using them or not. In my company, you will see these functions are used on many different levels, from the top executives down to the single individual that is managing his/her daily work.
The Four Functions of Management
The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. When I take a look at my organization, I can see very clearly how these functions of management are applied, and how I apply them in my daily routine.
Planning is the first of the functions. ... There are meetings at a high level of management that decide the direction of the company. In contrast, there are also meetings at a much lower level, in which first line managers such as myself make detailed planning decisions to reach the goals set by upper management.
