The largest know sacrifice by the Aztec’s took place during the reign of Montezuma II when 12,000 enemy soldiers were sacrificed at one time. ... They also believed that if they sacrificed a brave enemy soldier, his strength would pass to the Aztec warriors and make them even stronger. Each morning every Aztec civilian would perform their own sacrifice by pricking their finger with a cactus needle and letting a drop of their blood soak into the ground. ...
