Detectives and police walk into the Ramsey home where the Ramsey’s six year old daughter, “a mini model,” has been murdered; who else to suspect but the parents? ... The murder of JonBenet is still an unsolved mystery, yet there are enough facts to prove her parents accountable for the death. ... Furthermore, JonBenet followed the footsteps of her mother and became a beauty queen ever since she was capable of walking (Exposure 1). ... Around five o’clock in the morning on the 26 of December, Patsey Ramsey walked down the staircase to find at the foot of the stairs a three page ransom note. The letter stated that her daughter had been kidnapped and JonBenet would be returned if the parents paid the ransom of $118,000. ... Supposedly, Patsey ran to JonBenet’s room and then realized that her daughter was missing. ... “JonBenet, a lovely, child who had won the local Little Miss Christmas beauty pageant, was discovered dead in the basement of their home, with duct tape over her mouth and a cord twisted around her neck” (Hewitt 38). At that moment all fingers pointed towards the Ramsey parents for the murder of their child (Exposure 3).
Lou Smit, a homicide detective worked on the case of JonBenet for about 18 months. ... He considers that JonBenet had caught the murderer’s eye in a Boulder parade. ... He mentions the story that JonBenet had wet her bed based on finding plastic sheets, urine stains, and the pull-up diaper package hanging out of a cabinet in JonBenet’s bedroom (“JonBenet” 1). Patsey must have been frustrated and possibly pushed JonBenet in the bathroom and her daughter accidentally hit her head on the bathtub. “The push fractured her skull and left JonBenet unconscious” (“The JonBenet” 2). ... Additionally, John Ramsey helped her cover up the mishap in the morning with the cops (“The JonBenet” 2).
During Smit’s theory, he explains that JonBenet ripped the duct tape off her mouth. Although, if Patsy did the crime, she must have put the strip of duct tape over JonBenet’s mouth once she was dead.
