Introduction
On Friday, February 22, 2002 the US Department of Labor announced that for the first time since 1992 the annual average unemployment rates in 2001 rose in more than half the states. You may ask yourself the following: “What is unemployment? What causes unemployment? ... This paper will give you the answer to those questions along with other valuable information regarding the US unemployment rates for 2001. The notes at the end of the paper will be my thoughts on unemployment.
What is unemployment? ... The unemployment rate is a term used to show the percentage of people who are willing to work but cannot get a job. Unemployment fluctuates with changes in the economy. For instance when the economy is doing well the unemployment rate tend to be low but when the economy is not doing good the unemployment rate tend to increase.
What causes unemployment?
