Transport is an important factor of influencing how buildings were built, because buildings were built in the areas separated by transport routes. People utilize buildings for various purposes such as business or lives. However, people might work in one place and live in another place. Therefore, transport also plays a role as an instrument for people reaching where they want to go. Buildings with awnings or arcade on sidewalks help pedestrians to cope with and won’t be exposed to bad weather (Central Sydney DCP 1996). In terms of streetscape, it is consisted of buildings’ appearances. As can be seen in the first and second sketches, the reason for modern transport systems which can be accounted for in the planning of the city is that railway networks were built underground. In some cases, exits of railway station were integrated into buildings in central business district (CBD) such as Woolworth Metro and Queen Victoria Building (QVB). Similarly, the railway network and parts of a modern transport system called Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) were also built underground in Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan. However, the architectures in Taipei are not arranged and planned as well as in Australia. It could be easy to be observed from uneven arcades of buildings in Taipei.
