Most children like to hear fairy tales because it’s a chance to escape to a world of make believe. Fairy tales are about fairies, elves, witches and other magical creatures. When I was a little girl, before going to bed, my mother would read me a fairy tale. When the story was done my mother would kiss me good night and I would fall asleep. As I slept I would always have this dream about me being a princess and one day that I would find my prince charming. Once I did meet him, we would get married and live happily ever after. My favorite fairy tale was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I knew the story word for word. Now that I’m older, I haven’t read the story in a long time. A couple of days ago I decided to look up the original story. After I finished reading the story, I noticed the story was written differently to the one I knew from childhood. Within this fairy tale there are misleading statements and beliefs that I really didn’t know about. All the characters remained the same but there was an extra story line added. The main character of this fairy tale is Snow white. She is a beautiful, sweet and innocent young girl. She is honest, friendly and is very naïve through out the whole story. The queen is Snow White’s evil stepmother. The queen is very jealous and envious of Snow White. She is conceited and self absorbed. Then you have the seven dwarfs. Each dwarf has their own personality in which they are named after. Their names are Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy, Sleepy, Grumpy and Dopey. These qualities are found in each person at one time. I think each of these dwarfs represents Snow Whites personality in parts of the story. The prince is the hero and Snow Whites escapee from a bad situation. The fairy tale as I knew it was about a young girl named Snow White.
