Asthma can hinder, but not stop you from doing what you want to in life.
Millions of Americans have asthma and it is the lending cause of chronic illness in children. Asthma is a disease in which the lining of the airways in the lungs become inflamed and swollen and produces extra mucus ("Living with Asthma, 1-2). Asthma does not mean you have to stop enjoying a full and productive life. Asthma is an obstacle for all people that have it, and some overcome that obstacle better than others do. Many athletes have proven that asthma can be overcome if you have enough determination. Asthma cannot be cured, but with the proper medication it can be prevented into turning into something worse.
There are many medications for asthma, such as albuterol, theophylline, ephedrine, cortisone and prednisone ("Asthma", 1).
