The battle of Lexington and Concord is the first battle of the Revolutionary War. The conflict began in Lexington on the night of April 19th, 1775. General Thomas Gage, British Military Governor of Massachusetts, receives the order to destroy the rebel's military stores at Concord. Resistance in the form of a militia courageously encounters the daunting British forces. A lone shot fires and further hostility ensues. The British forces killed eight members of the brave band of men and seriously injured ten. The militia was forced to scatter and retreat. The British forces then hammered on towards Concord. Once again, they encounter daring men ready to defend their home met an opposition of militia. this time however, the militia was more powerful and thus, (Don¡¯t be afraid to use semicolons and commas) the spark that ignites the Revolutionary War is lit. The militia fought hard against the British and they were forced to retreat. The groups of militia men took advantage of the British withdrawal and hit the army from different angles, picking them off one by one. This battle ultimately proves to be the beginning of the war. The Battle of Bunker Hill takes place on June 17, 1775 during the siege of Boston. The British General, Gage, dispatched 2,300 troops under the command of Major General Howe to obtain control of the hill. The colonial¡¯s General Prescott counters with 1,200 undisciplined and often drunk militia members. Coincidentally, (Use commas after prepositions) the Battle of Bunker Hill may not have taken place at Bunker Hill at all. It is said that Prescott built fortifications around Breed¡¯s Hill because of a mistake on a map. The British, seeing the fortifications, attacks what is actually Breed¡¯s Hill.
