Romantic Era of Literature

The Romantic era was one of the most influencial movements in literature. During this movement, many famous poets and writers changed the focus of literature. Romantic writers were mostly interested in personal happiness. Likewise, the bywords of the Romantic movement became feeling and emotion. Also, God was suddenly impersonal to the Romantic poets, they instead sought inspiration in Nature. The Romantic movement of the early to mid 1800’s greatly changed the face of literature, along with people’s view of the world.
     The main interest of the Romantic movement was personal happiness. Washington Irving, also known as the “Father of American Literature”, was one of the first great American writers. ...
