Aristophanes famous play Lysistrata is named after the protagonist of the work. ... Lysistrata challenges conventional culture and purposes that woman do not perform their sexual duties in order to stop the war that has plagued Greece for years . Lysistrata is the hero because she is looked upon with high esteem by all greek women, even so much as they pledge their lives for her, ”Of course we’ll do it! ... Lysistrata devises the plan that the women are to abstain from all sexual contact with their husbands until they make peace between Sparta and Athens. Although the women are already complaining that their husbands do not tend to them sexually enough because of the war effort, Lysistrata still convinces them to take a oath of abstinance until their demands are met. ... This all shows that Lysistrata is a very strong figure in the society of women in Greece and has much influence over women of all ages.
Lysistrata is a heroine the fact that she was successful in her endeavors shows that she was a great planner and her efforts did not go unanswered.
