The underlining message I found from the movie was: 1. To have a dream, follow and develop it and make it happen. Hence “change the stars” from peasant to knight, from one class level up to another can be within reach. 2. “Good” against “Evil”! In the movies “Good” is generally portrayed as being the winners in the end. 3. Romance: Boy meets girl; boy loses girl, then Love conquers all. The dream started with actor (Heath Ledger) William impersonating a knight, Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein. His trusty companions Roland (Mark Addy) and Wat (Alan Tudyk) by his side he set out to help him achieve his dream to become the knight and change the stars, through the opportunity his father had given to him when he was employed by Sir Ector. (The opportunity was quite believable) Along the way through his conquest there were a series of coincidences: 1. He meets a writer on the road while travelling to a jousting competition. 2. He needs papers- a Patent of Nobility (remembering peasants would not have had access to written text or being taught to read and write) 3. Problem was solved.
