Part Two: Historiography 1. What method/methods did you use to gather your information? I got most of my information from my Mum and Dad. Also got some information from my Uncle, Aunty and Grandparents. And got a little bit of information from the internet and the Encarta Encyclopedia. 2. What method/methods did you use to present your information? I was originaly going to write on an old purple lace top from the 70's but we couldn't find it. So yeh. 3. What problems/difficulties did you encounter in this part of the assignment? Doing an assignment on the 1970's was quite hard because it was so log ago and so hard to get decent information. I had many problems with the first part in reseacrchig the catagories we had to do. 4. Do you think that oral history is a reliable source of historical knowledge? Give reasons for your answer? Yes. Well, Its interesting but its not always correct, Because memories fade in time. Although I think most of my information is correct and good historical knowledge. 5. Evaluation: Do you think this part of the asssignment has been valuable, enjoyable, surpriseing, interesting, or do you think it has been a negative experience, or do think it has been a mixture of good and bad? Be honest in this answer. Dont just write what you think we want you to say. I found it quite interesting to learn about fashions, entertainments, and what people thought in the 1970's. Although I dont really like doing assisgnments but I always give it my best. Part Three: Historical Themes in Australia in the 1970's and 1980's. 2. Women - The Experiences of a women active in the women's liberation movement in the 1970's. Questions: 1. What is the women's liberation movement? The mass women's liberation movement of the late 1960s and early '70s — known as the “second wave” of feminism, won sweeping advances for women, culminating in a wide range of reforms in the early 1970s. The movement had many facets and involved large numbers of women. In the 1970s, working women’s centres were established and working women’s conferences held. Large numbers of women joined trade unions to challenge the sexist ideas within them and to force them to take on the struggle for the rights of working women.
