The unfaithful might say that some legends of the bible are mere myths, stories told to children to explain happenings in life. To those, I would like to point out the astounding similarities among the flood stories in both The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis. ... Obvious relationships definitely subsist between the two flood accounts in both these writings.
In each story the flood is brought on as a result of the divinities’ dissatisfaction with mankind’s behavior. In Genesis, God is concerned with man’s lawlessness. “All mortals led depraved lives on earth,” In contrast, the gods in The Epic of Gilgamesh, simply become irritated with man.
