The Vietnam War:
Vietnam has been under rule of China for the most of its history. In 1860 France began to colonize Vietnam, and took over the control there. During WW II, the Japanese government took control of much of the area and sat up a puppet regime that was eventually forced out by the Vietnamese at the end of the war. ... And a communistic government ruled North Vietnam. ... Many North Vietnamese left the country because of the communistic regime, and fled south where the self-proclaimed president, Ngo Dinh Diem, had formed the Republic of Vietnam. Between 1955 and 1960 North Vietnam, with the assistance of the southern communist Vietcong, tried to take over the government in the south.
At the same time as the struggles took place in Vietnam, communism had become the evil maniac to society for Americans. In fear of a communist takeover in South Vietnam too, the Unites States became more and more concerned of the development of the Ho Chi Minh and the Vietcong. Because of the cold war, the U. ... were afraid that a war on North Vietnam would lead to a bigger conflict with Russia and China, and a possible WW III.
