The Great Finish Top of the seventh, two outs and no men on base as RJ Zitselburger stepped to the plate. Our best hitter approaches the batter’s box with the game tied at zero in the last inning. This is the beginning of the conclusion of our must win baseball game against Wheeling Central to get into the playoffs. It is junior year and I am a Linsly Cadet, pitching a one hitter with no runs through six. We are going to need a big break on offense in the top of the seventh to score the go-ahead run. The pitcher wound up, and delivered on an 0-2 count to RJ. Whack a base-hit line drive single right up the middle. RJ rounded first looking at the center fielder rapidly approaching the baseball that is racing towards him. It went right through his legs! The baseball kept rolling then came to an abrupt stop at the base of the center field fence. RJ had already rounded second and was heading for third. Everything was happening so fast.
