‘Chicken Run’ appeals to adults as well as children in a variety of different forms. The film draws connections between the classic ‘The Great Escape’ and uses many forms of adult humour such as parody, satire and spoof to appeal to an adult audience. The key messages and production elements used in ‘Chicken Run’ are also suitable for an adult audience as they go into more depth and meaning than what a child might be able to grasp.
This film offers adults the opportunity to draw connections between ‘Chicken Run’ and ‘The Great Escape’. Whilst ‘Chicken Run’ uses the form of clay – animation the film is loosely based on the 1963 classic ‘The Great Escape’. Chicken Run is a constant parody of the ‘Great Escape’, adult audiences would recognise this straight from the opening sequence of the film in which the music and setting look very similar.
