... The turning point of Russian history was during 1917, where the Czar Nicholas II had to abdicate, and consequently structural changes took place. Former revolts happened because Russia was suffering of continuous famine, and the Duma representing the landlords’ power could not longer be in office without the support of the Czar Nicholas II. ... People were in hands of political newcomers who recurred to the most extreme measures to take on power; revolution and coup d’état. Revolution is by definition a violent change of a social or political order by a country’s population, and coup d’état is the seizure of an existing government by a small group. According to Martin McCauley, the October-November revolution is the most significant historical event of the twentieth century. This change prepared a revolution, because the Bolsheviks altered during the following years the structure of the feudal-capitalist Russian Empire controlling the country through political, social and economical measures.
