The book that I'm writing report on is called Speak. Speak is about a girl name Melinda Sordino who is very close minded. She's not like other girls around her, and her friends. The only place that she feels safe and herself is in her own head. She has this personality that people who think they know her say she has problems. She just can't act like people around her. She thought she had friends, but when she starts ninth grade, the truth comes up to her by itself. She sees that nobody is really her best friend, even Heather or Rachel. While reading SPEAKS, you spend most of your time harbored in Melinda's mind, a place often filled with pain, and sometimes biting humor. Her reality consists of an ex-best friend who mouths the words; "I hate you," on the first day of school -where her harried parents don't seem to notice that her lips are scabby and raw from biting down on them. Her one and only "friend," new girl Heather, uses her for lack of any other friends.
