Billy Pilgrim, the main character of Slaughter House Five, by Kurt Vonnegut, was an optometrist that led a life that many can not imagine. Billy’s life was one full of unexpectable shifts from reality to a world of aliens called Tralfamadores. He had the ability to travel throughout his life to any moment. Unfortunately, Billy has no control over the traveling and can not predict where he will be next. He has no freewill over his life and the time travel that takes place in his life. The Tralfamadores are a people who live on a higher level than humans. They can travel in time and see in the fourth dimension which allows them to see many more things that humans. They can travel to different times of their lives and see what is going to happen. They know in advance what is going to kill them or even end the world as we know it. Billy for some reason has this ability and does not understand why or how to accept it. Unlike Billy, they are not alarmed or bothered by this ability. They accept their fates understanding one fact: they never will die, they will only move to another time in their lives. They do not fear death as many humans do because they understand what it is. For them, it is just another time in their endless journey of their lives.
