Philip Kim 6 / 08 /04 In the comparison of the movie Cool Hand Luke and the novel, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s nest there are several differences and similarities of the two characters Dragline and Billy Bibbit. These two characters brought mesmerizing drama to the movie and book by the result of conforming to the protagonists. One difference was loyalty to their friends. Dragline became adulterous to Luke in Cool Hand Luke. He did this by leaving Luke by himself when everybody else lost hope in him. Dragline and the rest of the prison inmates left Luke on the floor in the bunkhouse after Luke was brought in after he apologized to the boss for not having his mind right. As opposed, Billy Bibitt in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest went to his pal’s side to help his cause even though no one else did. McMurphy wanted a vote to watch the World Series and got one. None of the other acutes voted in fear of Ms. Ratched, but Billy Bibitt voted because he wanted to help Mac get what he wanted. Besides the difference of their loyalty to their friends, there was a physical difference between them. Dragline, from Cool Hand Luke was rather hefty and fearsome. He was enormous in size about two hundred to two-fifty, fat but not out of shape. Dragline proved how big he was when he worked in the ditches and boxed leisurely.
