What are Mr Lockwood's first impressions of Wuthering Heights in Chapter 1? In chapter 1 the narrator, Mr Lockwood, describes his first days as a tennant at Thrushcross Grange, and of his visit to his landlord, Mr Heathcliff at Wuthering Heights. The name 'wuthering', automatically describes the atmosphere surrounding the manor, as is a local adjective used to describe the fierce and wild winds. Lockwood notices the effect such weather has on the house. ':one may guess the power of the north wind, blowing over the edge, by the excessive slant of a few, stunted firs at the end of the house; and by a range of gaunt thorns, all stretching thier limbs one way, as if craving alms of the sun'.
