In this experiment I am trying to discover how the potato cells will alter when they are placed in a variety of different concentrations of salt solutions. These solutions will vary from 0% to 30% in concentration. ...
I predict that the potato cells in distilled water (0% salt solution) will enhance in weight and length and weight. I also think that the potato cells with a higher concentration of salt will reduce in length and weight, this is because the salt solution is more concentrated causing more water to move out through osmosis. As the concentration of the salt solution increases the length and weight of the potato cell will decrease. When the concentration of the salt solution decreases the weight and length will decrease.
Apparatus
· Test – tube.
· Test – tube rack. ...
· Five various salt solutions.
· Potato cells (equivalent in length & weight)
Method.
I am intending to do five different experiments to find the weight and length of potato cells after being placed in a concentrated salt solution.
