Dulce at Decorum Est
In this critical essay, I will discuss the various literary techniques which Wilfred Owen employs to render his thought provoking poem ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’ so graphically horrific. ... He plainly states the message he wished to express by saying “You would not tell with such high zest to children ardent for some desperate glory, the old lie Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori” These lines, in my opinion, are intended as the final blow to the reader in Owen’s attempt to make them come down to earth and face the harsh reality of war. ... In conclusion, I feel that Wilfred Owen has employed several effective literary techniques in his poem “Dulce Et Decorum Est”.
