My interest in law began in secondary school when applying for my work placement. I was curious to find out about the role of a solicitor and their input into the legal system so I applied to Stockton Borough Council Legal Department. I spent a week there and during this time experienced many aspects associated with law such as finding out the facts about a case then deciding how, or whether or not, the facts were established so that we could put the case up in court. I also visited a Magistrates court for some minor cases including speeding fines and parking ticket fines. I really enjoyed this placement because I liked being part of a team of people that helped other people and it made me realise that being a solicitor is what I wanted to do with my life.
