Countries: GNP Growth Rate D Dē
Botswana 2590 3. ... 4 12 144
The question states that the growth rate in developed countries is different or lower that it is in developing countries. The question also infers that the reasons why population growth is higher in developed countries compared to developing countries is that socio economic factors have a major impact on the population growth rate. Population is a major problem for the world, however despite the predictions of Ehrlich and Malthus at the present time there have been no mass starvations. In general the growth in world population is the result of a combination of lowing death rates and increasing life expectancy.
An analysis of the table shows that there is a strong relationship between GNP and Population Growth rate. In other words a higher growth rate is found in developing countries and the lower growth rates is found in developed countries. Often population growth is explained by reference to the demographic transition model.
