What’s Really Priceless
Advertisements are seen everywhere we look. ... MasterCard’s “Priceless” commercials were viewed on television screens all across the country starting in 1997. ... They spent money on the tickets, souvenirs, food, and other miscellaneous items, but ultimately, their trip was deemed priceless by MasterCard. ... The camera then shows her spilling a glass of milk, and MasterCard concludes that remembering to take things one day at a time is priceless. ... Another memorable edition of these “priceless” commercials shows a mother buying shoes and taking dance lessons, and then being able to finally dance with her son at his wedding is apparently priceless.
The common tag line following whatever MasterCard calls priceless is the line that, after much thought, has started to bother me. ... Now that is priceless.
