Taboo Language
The correct way to describe a word to be dirty or clean, or maybe ugly or pretty would be through the concept of whether or not the word is taboo. By definition taboo means: words or activities that are considered inappropriate for a “polite society”. But the real question lies in how we observe these certain words to be taboo or not. The beauty or ugliness of a word is discovered by the person who is listening to it, how they perceive the word, and whether or not they personally think it is taboo. ... The word “prick” is a word that can cause a lot of controversy and can be termed taboo. ... Another example of a taboo word would be the N word in referring to African Americans. ... Although I never say the N word, I agree that it is taboo, but I also think that it is widely blown out of proportion. ... Taboo was borrowed from Tongan, which is a Polynesian Language, in which words and gestures that were seen as being inappropriate where to be avoided in public. An act can be seen as being taboo and along with this act it is forbidden to talk about that action as well. ... Within some societies having sex before you are married would be taboo.
