Animal Research
Helosia Sabin supports animal research and in her essay “Animal Research Saves
Human Lives” she informs the reader of her views. With her essay, Sabin is trying to
inform the audience of the benefits that are achieved by performing animal research. ... Sabin in her paper wrote that if it had not been for animal research, a
vaccine for polio would not have been achieved. ... Sabin then proceeds to inform us of
the people who are against animal research: “This ‘animal rights’ ideology-espoused by
groups such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, The Humane Society of the
United States and the Funds for Animals-rejects the use of laboratory animals in medical
research and denies the role such research played in the victory over polio” (193). This
quote Sabin provides the reader with the views of people against animal research. ... According to Sabin, Polio would
still be around if it had not been for animal research: “Without animal research, Polio
would still be claiming thousands of lives each year” (194).
