Everyone remembers when America changed forever. On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked the World Trade Centers, killing thousands. It affected everyone in America, big and small. It affected some more than others. Victims families, heroes, heroes families are a few. All it took to be a hero is effort and courage. My mom and dog were heroes that helped families know the fate of their loved ones. It didn’t just affect my mom, it changed a little of me, too. As I was walking down the school hall, ideas were flashing through my head. Why did they call me down to the office because my mom was here? She didn’t tell us we had anything going on that day. Some two days after the attacks, my mom told us there was a likelihood she might be deployed to New York. It didn’t hit me too hard. I figured it probably wouldn’t happen. As I started to enter the office, I saw my brother William coming down the hall, too. What was going on? He had a confused look on his face, too. All the sudden, I saw my mom come through the main entrance to the school. She was wearing clothes that she would wear to dog training. Oh no, I thought, It can’t be happening.
