Alexander Pope

...

Alexander Pope was born may 21, 1688. ... Pope spent much of his time in his fathers library studying. Pope was a precocious child he could read Latin, Greek, French and Italian while still very young; “When I had done with my priests, I took to reading by myself, for which I had a very great eagerness and enthusiasm, especially for: and in a few years I had dipped into a great number of English, French, Italian Latin, and Greek poets” . ... As a child Pope also contracted tubercular bone disease as young boy. Pope had a hutch in his back because of his disease. In literary battles Pope was called a hutch back toad (goggle).
Throughout Pope’s career critics constantly questioned his unique writing style. Controversy always seemed to find Pope throughout his career. Pope was attacked often because of his versification style of writing poetry. Writers often said that pope was not to be considered great because he did not write romantic poems.
