... I am very motivated to help people in the most creative ways, and the best way to go about achieving that in my life is to become an electrical engineer. ... MEMS is a field that is fairly newly born and has many discoveries and technological breakthroughs yet to be made, but the function of a MEMS engineer is to design micro systems, that can be used to effectively and cost efficiently run a larger system or mechanism. The skills needed to carry out this job are at least a Master’s Degree in MEMS, but a doctorate is more desired. One should be very skillful at handling small objects, good at physics (because the MEMS world revolves so heavily around physics), be able to work well with computers (and programs such as MEMSPro and L-Edit) and one should be very creative, able to make new designs and structures every month.
