Summary Nigel Holden Mainly about how perspectives and scientist interest in the term “culture” has changed and is changing. Also how definitions change. The author doesn’t want to critizise someone (even so he is sarcastic) he mostly only states facts about how we used to observe it in only an very narrow/restricted/ way. The fact is that it is a very wide field Culture is mostly just a word, but not an area of interest Schneider: - there is much confusion in this field because: - multiple definitions - multiple differences that approach this topic different - different scientistsdifferent methods when observing 1952 Word was mainly used only in science of different race (Ethnographic) and within different fields of the humanities. 20 years late the word was not only used any more in this field but extended his meaning to national and organizational values and behaviour. Today there are a lot different perspective and no general agreement about the meaning.
