Bastille day

     Bastille Day is a national holiday in France. It celebrates the fall of the Bastille at the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789. The capture of the Bastille came to symbolize French freedom ,celebrates the end of monarchy and feudal system, and the beginning of the First Republic. ...
     The people were very angry and decided to storm the Bastille because it was the symbol of political oppression. The Bastille was a prison in France that the kings and queens often used to lock up the people that did not agree with their decisions. So, on July 14, 1789, a large number of French citizens gathered together and stormed the Bastille.

     On that day in July, a rumor had circulated that troops were going to be sent in order to break up the National Assembly.
