Jamil Ghanem Period 2 British-Literature-H Mr. Maron 11 Drinks Significance of the title “Counterparts” Besides the fact that the main character in this story makes counterparts for a living, there still remains many reasons why the story is entitled “Counterparts”. There are also many other examples of counterparts that are not as obvious as copies of legal documents. The first counterpart is the relationship between Mr. Allyene and Farrington in the sense that they are exact opposites. First of all, physically they are completely different people. Farrington is a tall man with a thick moustache while Mr. Allyene is a little man with a shaven face.
