The books "The tale of Sir Gareth" by Malory, The Quest of The Holy Grail, and Trolius and Criseyde, by Chaucer all deal with a very popular topic in medieval times, Courtly love. But not all stories that deal with courtly love follow all of the courtly love rules. "The Tale of Sir Gareth" dealt with courtly love a lot. Gareth is in love with Lady lyness and this love makes him become the greatest knight. He defeats the colored knights and wins a tournament of the greatest knights. Gareth rescues Lady Lyness several times, and each time she acts as if Gareth did something wrong to her. She was very mean and rude to Gareth but through all of this he still loves her. This is very much typical when dealing with courtly lovers. What is different about this story is that Gareth decides to marry lady Lyness after he wins the tournament.
