Today, money is one of the most important things to people. Almost anything can be purchased with it, without it, it is very hard to live. Unfortunately human life does not get in the way of what people want. The United States is in great need for universal healthcare to fully cover all of its citizens. The government spends its money to benefit the people with roads, education, and sometimes housing; being healthy is becoming too expensive without government support. The U.S. has many downfalls to its health system today. Canada provides coverage for all its citizens, though it has minor problems. We can look to Canada as an example of a new health care system. Insurance determines the quality of coverage a person receives. Our medical coverage that we must pay for by insurance determines the quality of care we receive if there is a need for medical help. Sometimes people are pushed from hospital to hospital because they do not want to help those that can’t pay. There are 43 million fully employed Americans that have no medical coverage at all. Aside from having none, it seems that only the rich have private insurance and the indigent and senior citizens get some minimally funded insurance from the government (Star 1). Not having health insurance is a significant problem. Those that are without it are more likely to die or decline in health and have higher costs than those people with insurance (Liang 1). Of course there is good reason that things are run this way. Insurance companies make horrific profit by tightly controlling care and even what and how long a doctor can give one treatment. Insurance is nothing to rely on. If something happens to you it may go up, heaven forbid you may get a terminal illness, chances are that you will be dropped from your insurance company. No one wants to pay out of their pocket for your treatment if the chances are that you will probably die (Star 2).
