Julie s Dilemma
The story, I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan, talks about how Julie, Ray, Helen, and Barry struggle with themselves after they decide not to tell the police about their accident. It starts with an anonymous letter that is received by Julie. Julie is the person who doesn¡¦t feel good about hiding that accident from the police, but she doesn¡¦t have the courage to tell the police the truth because there is a dilemma¡Xthe driver, Barry, may go to jail if Julie reports it to the police; Julie herself may feel uncomfortable and regretful for the rest of her life if she hides it from the police. Nevertheless, in considering the advantages and disadvantages of telling the truth, Julie should report their accident to the police immediately. Julie¡¦s life may be more peaceful and admirable if she tells the police about that accident. There are three advantages for Julie. ... For instance, before the accident happens, Julie is a cheerleader in school. ... But after the accident happens, Julie becomes a completely different person. ... From her face, people can see that she¡¦s worrying about something; she¡¦s fearful of something; she¡¦s full of unhappiness.
